DOL UPDATES ON PERM & BACKLOG CASES

As per the latest update provided by the DOL of the 363,000 backlog cases pending 108,000 have been completed; 50,000 Certifications have been issued and 255,000 cases remain pending. The DOL further advises that they are on track to issue 45 day letters on all remaining cases by end of June 2006.

Additionally, we should have a policy from DOL on Re-instatement of filings by Friday April 7th, 2006 (the previous deadline was end of March 2006).

Statistics on PERM filings are as follows: 80,272 cases were filed with 36,687 Certified. 1,950 were withdrawn and 23,205 were denied (including denialsfor minor errors). 24,960 Audits have been conducted. No cases have been approved following the Audit (the DOL is still formulating policy on that).
