BRC Processing Update

The DOL advises that the total number of cases forwarded to the two BRC's is approx. 345,000. Additionally, there are about 40,000 cases (combined) at San Francisco and New York Regional Office. These offices will be closed by early Jan 2006 and pending files will also be transferred to the two BRC's.

Partial data entry has been completed on about 90% of the cases pending at the BRC's. However, 45 day letters are issued only after full data entry is completed. It is approximated that there are about 100,000 pending cases which still need full data entry. The BRC's expect to complete full data entry and issue 45 day letters on these applications in the coming few months.

The Centers have been adjudicating RIR and traditional cases where recruitment was previously completed and no further action was required. While the BRC's are not yet ready to process cases that require recruitment, they plan to work these applications in the coming months and deal with all related issues such as prevailing wage and job orders.
