H-1B Cap Expected to Be Completely Used Soon - Room Under Advanced Degree Caps Exists
Regular Cap
As of August 4, USCIS has indicated that 51,939 cases have been counted against the 65,000 standard H-1B cap for FY 2006. Of this 65,000, 6800 slots are set aside for use under the Chile and Singapore Free Trade Agreements, which leaves 58,200.
Advanced Degree Cap
The new 20,000 visa cap exemption for those holding advanced degrees from U.S. universities has significant room left for both FY2005 and FY2006. 10,379 have been counted against the FY2005 cap, and 8212 have been counted against the FY2006 cap.
