USCIS Will Begin Accepting H-2B Petitions Under The Save Our Small and Seasonal Businesses Act of 2005

The US Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) has indicated that it will start accepting H-2B petitions under "Save Our Small and Seasonal Businesses Act of 2005," on May 25, 2005.

For FY 2005 cases with immediate start dates, 35,000 "new" visas are available. For any "returning" H-2B worker who has previously held H-2B status in any of the 3 preceding fiscal years, filings are exempt from cap requirements for start dates in the 2005 and 2006 fiscal years.
